Dr. Rose Broad

Dr Rose Broad is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. Rose has conducted research on modern slavery and human trafficking, in collaboration with criminal justice agencies and non-government organisations, for over ten years. Rose is currently co-lead on the modern slavery strand of the ESRC Policing Futures and Vulnerabilities Centre and is on the Advisory Board of the Modern Slavery Policy Evidence Centre.

Dr. Laura Wood

Laura is a social paediatrician, researcher and director at VITA, a clinician-led organisation dedicated to advancing the health response to human trafficking. Laura provides health expertise at national level and has contributed to European guidance on counter-trafficking responses. She is an Associate of the Childhood Trauma Recovery Network (CTRN UK).

Lara Bundock

Lara studied in Sheffield for a BA in Psychology and Sociology and then went on to complete an MA in Social Work. She worked for Doncaster Social Services and CAMHS before working for an NRM safe house in Sheffield. As a result of seeing the need for further support, Lara started the Snowdrop Project.

Dr. Deborah Kitson

Dr. Deborah Kitson worked as a social worker with children and adults with learning disabilities, for Nottinghamshire Social Services and Health Authority. She has experience consulting for other agencies developing policies and guidelines on sexuality and the protection of people with learning disabilities. She was appointed as the CEO of the Ann Craft Trust in 2002, a position which she held until her recent retirement. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Nottingham in 2016.

Jane Paling

Jane Paling is a driven professional, committed to tackling slavery, exploitation & trafficking with experience of local government and community based roles. Jane currently works for Nottingham City council as their Slavery Exploitation Team Manager and successfully chairs the SERAC (Slavery Exploitation Risk Assessment Conference) to manage potential exploitation cases. Jane also has much experience with creating bespoke training courses on this topic.

Robert Keniwell

Robert is a specialist in the field of disability across adult and children social work. He has a keen interest in safeguarding children and adults with disabilities and a passion for mental capacity, particularly in children’s social care and education. Robert has completed a wealth for assessments and reports for Family Court, Court of Protection and mental health tribunals as well as having delivered safeguarding and social care training to a wide range of organisations including local authority social work teams, education organisations and institutions and the voluntary and community sector.

Catherine Dennison

Catherine joined the Nuffield Foundation’s Welfare team in early 2019. Catherine contributes to the development, and management of the wide-ranging grants portfolio, and specifically manages the Oliver Bird programme relating to the impact of musculoskeletal conditions on wider well-being. Prior to joining the Nuffield Foundation, she managed research and policy teams with the RNIB and managed research with the Thomas Pocklington Trust. She spent 10 years in the Department of Health as Research Manager with the Children and Young People’s Public Health and Teenage Pregnancy policy teams.’
